Diving watches became popular in the 1920s but it wasn’t till 1926 when Hans Wilsdorf the founder of Rolex filed a patent for the “Oyster Case” where the basic components were the screw down crown, caseback and bezel when all screwed together sealed the watch and made it water proof and from then on diving watches gained popularity and most premium watch companies were busy designing watches with diving in their mind.
Today Diving watches also commonly referred to as a Diver or a Dive watches are basically watches designed for underwater diving with more than 1.0 ATM which is equivalent to 100 meters or 330 feet and has water resistance of almost 200 to 300 meters or 660 to 980 feet.
Divers never go out of fashion and may be in todays times they are used less underwater than overwater. Watchbazar has listed here some of its favourite “Top Divers of 2018 “.
