Hamilton and Electro/Data Inc released the first Pulsar watch in 70s with an 18 carat gold case which was the world’s first all-electronic digital watch and the first watch to use digital display created with light emitting diodes (LED).
Hamilton Pulsar P1 was priced at $2,100, which was more than a car went for at the time, every celebrity had one on his wrist and a Pulsar even appeared on James Bond’s wrist in 1973’s Live and Let Die.
To Celebrate the 50th anniversary of this iconic watch, the brand just announced the Hamilton PSR which still radiates the space age aesthetics with the size and details same as of its predecessor. Both new models will be available in 40.8mm case, anti-reflective coating and the crystal for the new PSR’s is made of sapphire instead of mineralite on the earlier model.

The Hamilton PSR features a hybrid display mixing reflective LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) and emissive OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diodes) technologies. Pressing the button will once again bring up light red OLED numerals in the familiar ‘digit dot’ style, while the LCD display ensures that time is also permanently visible in daylight conditions. With no backlight, the display has very low energy consumption.
Two versions will be available from May 2020,Stainless Steel – non-limited edition for $ 745 & Gold PVD for $ 995, in 1,970-piece limited edition , a nod to the year of the first Pulsar was released.
