At the Salon de la Haute Horlogerie 2019, the Swiss brand Richard Mille took us on a nostalgic trip to the candy store, creating a much colorful buzz with their new BonBon Collection. Comprised of 10 models ,each produced in an edition of 30 pieces. The BonBon range watches articulate a sweet and tangy new vision in watchmaking, featuring candies, pastries and fruits, the watches feature colored gemstones and a finely tuned eye for detail offering a variety of shades and textures, the crowns and some of the case bands too take the shape of different confectionery treats. These impressions are strengthened by the effect of the brightly coloured TZP ceramic cases, used throughout the collection.
The 3,000 miniature sculptures are painted in acrylic and lacquered by hand. The sculptures used in these compositions stand out from the dials, turning each one into a bag full of tiny candies. To further enhance their realism, a ‘sugar coating’ effect was achieved using powdered enamel and the fine sand employed in hourglasses.
