French watchmaker Michel HERBELIN unveild a new interpretation of its automatic chronograph from the Newport collection.
Watchbazar loved the steel coated large 43.5mm case , with grey anthracite PVD which reveals a black well designed sporty dial, vertically hand-brushed. Protected by an anti-reflective sapphire glass, with luminescent bevelled markers, paced by the hour and minute hands, also coated in a white luminescent material, provide optimum visibility, even in low lighting conditions. Orchestrating the ensemble, the “hour”, “second” and “minute” counters, positioned respectively at 6, 9 and 12 o’clock, count the passing of time up to 12 hours, while a tachymeter scale measures speeds ranging from 50 to 400 kmph. Coupled with a date aperture at 3 o’clock and a timer discreetly located on the ring flange, this Michel Herbelin chronograph combines, finely balanced together, a large number of practical functions for everyday use. With contrasting effect, the rose gold PVD, enhancing the steel bezel, covering the buttons and subtly highlighting the dial finishes, provides ease of reading for the information displayed.Distinctive with its central clasp, which is emblematic of the collection, the strap in elastogator rubber with a crocodile imprint, lined with a synthetic material which is gentle to wear.
Designed, conceived, assembled, regulated and checked in the workshops of the Michel Herbelin brand, the Newport automatic chronograph inherits a legacy of French watch-making expertise, with its roots established in the Jura massif in Franche-Comté since 1947. Water resistant to 100 metres, it contains an automatic self-winding mechanical movement of Swiss manufacture (Sellita SW500), the guarantee of quality and precision. Oscillating at 28,800 vibrations an hour, and with 25 rubies, it can be admired through a transparent case back revealing a “Geneva waves” decorated oscillation weight. With a comfortable power reserve of 42 hours.
