Godzilla was theatrically released in Japan on November 3, 1954, and grossed ¥183 million during its initial theatrical run, the film’s success spawned a multimedia franchise, being recognized by the Guinness World Records as the longest running franchise ever. Seiko and Godzilla share their anniversaries in 2019, it’s been 65 years since the famous movie was released and Seiko completes 20 years since the invention of the of the iconic Spring Drive movement. Grand Seiko Godzilla 65ᵀᴴ Anniversary Limited Edition pays tribute to the creature and the design is well fused to the Godzilla theme. The 44.4 mm angular stainless steel case and bright red sunray dial evokes the monsters rays of fire that it shoots often from its mouth to destroy everything in its path and the shark strap is applied black and red to recreate the roaring monsters skin.
