Neo Tourbillon with Three Bridges Skeleton was introduced by Girard Perregaux last year and recently at Miami Watches & Wonders 2019, Girard Perregaux presented Quasar, a timepiece revealing a new dimension of this iconic movement.
Based on the “Earth to Sky” theme, this complication model is named after the most brilliant of astronomical entities, the Quasar. The illuminated, tourbillon with its contemporary spirit enters the light spectrum with a case entirely made of transparent sapphire crystal. The 45 mm diameter Quasar case is entirely made of sapphire crystal. A chimney style glass covers the movement bridges like a telluric dome. Its all of a piece case band features curving sides and angular lugs.
Watchbazar loved the beautiful skeletonized movement and the well designed case highlighting the bridges which visually contribute to Quasar’s overall transparency effect. The three bridges are made of titanium, sandblasted and then blackened by a PVD treatment. Calibre GP 9400-1035 is the modified version of Calibre 9400, and by removing the mainplate Girard-Perregaux designers have created a weightless timepiece. The Tourbillon carriage composed of 80 components weighs only 0.250 grams. The Quasar is has water resistance of 30 meters (3 ATM) with a power reserve of 60 hours, sold with hand sewn black alligator leather strap with titanium triple folding clasp.
Price: $194,000 Girard Perregaux
