Breitling is truly a pilot oriented brand and it dedicates most of its iconic timepieces to aviation.The latest Aviator 8 Mosquito pays tribute to the famous 1941 De Havilland DH 98 Mosquito a twin engine fighter and bomber airplane used for multiple roles including low altitude bomber,high altitude night bomber,path finder and photo reconnaissance aircraft.The Wooden Wonder or Mossie as it was nicknamed, DH98 was made from wood laminates allowing it to be lightweight and one of the fastest plane in the skies during World War II.
Aviator 8 Mosquito stays true to the aeronautic spirit with its 43mm steelcase and ADLC coated stainless steel bezel with red pointers and arabic numerals, the special dark ADLC coating in contrast to silver subdials recall the cockpit dials of the Havilland Mosquito. The orange central hour, minute and central seconds in striking colors also celebrate the iconic airplanes fuselage markings.
Breitling Manufacture Caliber 01 movement used is a perfect match for the watch and enhances the power reserve to almost 70 hours with water resistance upto 100 meters. Aviator 8 Mosquito is presented on a brown vintage leather strap with either a pin buckle or a folding buckle.
