Heartbreaks are not always sad and tragic, sometimes they are a chance to turnaround your life and change destiny. Mr Ibe Kikuo did just that, devastated and inconsolable by a broken pocket watch given to him by his father, he created history by creating the most durable and robust watch based upon a triple 10 philosophy. Survive a 10 meter drop, should be water resistant to 10 bar and have a battery life of 10 years.
Casio engineer Kikuo Ibe didn’t know back than that his new creation will shatter the reputation of a watch as a fragile piece of jewellery and the G-SHOCK with its fused function and robust design would create a cult like following. In 2017 Casio at its Yamagata unit celebrated the shipment of their 100-millionth G-SHOCK a back case engraved with the number 100,000,000 was fitted to the MRG-G1000B-1A4 in the MR-G series, the flagship series of the G-SHOCK brand.
Casio has constantly upgraded the G-SHOCK with numerous variations and the new model, the GMW-B5000TB is the first watch in the square-shaped 5000 series to use titanium for its main exterior components.Based on the same square shape of the first G-SHOCK the new model is 57 grams lighter than its steel predecessor due to the titanium used:case, band, bezel, caseback and buttons are made from titanium. DW-5000C-1B DNA is very evident in the screw backcase and the back case with gold lettering and lines.
Diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating is applied to the metal components for superior wear resistance. The glass is made from scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, to which a non-reflective coating is applied, and the display uses an STN-LCD that offers superior viewing angles for enhanced readability, making it easier to tell time. The GMW-B5000TB also features smartphone connectivity to adjust the time and configure world time and other settings easily from a phone, for superior practicality.
GMW-B5000TB is as of now only available for Japanese market and priced at 150,000 Japanese Yen. For more visit CASIO
